Movie Review: HD-DVD Apollo 13-the version to own
Summary: 5 Stars
If you don't own an HD-DVD player stop now. Yes the format is dead-and NO I am not sorry one whit I bought one. That aside, this movie is reviewed in detail elsewhere, so I'm just dealing with the HD-DVD version and how it stacks up against the other formats. I've owned the regular DVD and the laserdisc version of this movie- and this one is SOOO much better. Crystal clear picture with remarkable detail. The space sequences are breathtaking in beauty. The launch sequence is a great demo- though not as aggressive on the subwoofer as I'd expected or hoped for. Well worth the bargain price now that the format war is over. As an aside- if you need a new dvd player consider an HD-DVD player. They're on sale and GREAT upconverters for regular DVD's- and as a bonus, play true HD-DVD movies. I expect getting years of enjoyment from mine.Movie Review: MIND-BLOWING IMAGE AND SOUND!!!!!!!

Incredible image. Crisp. Rich. Full of detail. Incredible contrast. Amazing colors. This is exactly what HDTV is all about.
HD-DVD really got me. I was once a Blu-ray supporter, but now I've got to admit. HD-DVD is simply doing what it was suposed to do: DELIVER!
This HD-DVD has no extras because the the focus of this format is (for now) to show the public what it can do. I don't quite agree with that. I'd love the extras. But I also must say that an image this incredible is worth anything. I'm sure future releases will have all the goodies regular DVDs have.
Just give me more HD-DVD movies! I can't get enough of it.

This HD DVD will not disappoint. Very sharp picture with vivid colors. This disc has ALL the special features of the 2 disc annivery edition (although they in standard definition). If you have an HD DVD player, do not hesitate to pick up this gem.
