Movie Review: Andre Rieu concert in Cortona, Tuscany
Summary: 5 Stars
I have several of Andre Rieu's performances but this one I found absolutly the best, both beautiful and entertaining. The location in a town square in Cortona, with colored lighting, that is just gorgeous. The music was well chosen and totally engaged the audience who at times seemed alternatly spellbound and animated. He is a great performer and he has filled his orchestra with beautiful women in beautiful gowns. It is just a delight to see and hear. Go get it!Movie Review: Outstanding!

I don't remember having such a reaction to an orchestra. I get tears everytime I watch this. Andre Rieu puts joy, passion, romance and humor into some beautiful music. Andre has a gift. The Italian National Anthem is a wonderful song, first time I've heard it and the tune is staying in my head. It's lovely. I want to share this DVD with everyone because who could not find it moving and a joy to experience. Want the entire Andre collection now. The song selections are perfect, the setting in Cortona is perfect as well. Two of my favorites: "O Mio Babbino Caro", and the haunting "once Upon a Time in The West". The latter sung beautifully by Carla Maffioletti. This DVD is a must have for all music lovers.
The only negative is the constant camera moving around, zooming in and out of the orchestra and crowd. The videographer must have had too much espresso that day.

It seems like every Andre Rieu special has something unique to offer. Each one has a certain style and flavor, based largely on the audience he is performing in front of. The songs Andre and his orchestra perform in this concert are well tailored to the Italian audience. Overall, the music is beautful and just plain magical. I truly enjoy witnessing the audience be drawn into to Andre's performance. The music is sublime, as always, but the location shots and the video of the audience make this so very enjoyable. The old women, peering out a window and swaying to the music, evokes fond memories of travels through rural Italy - and the passion Italians have for enjoying life.
