Movie Review: Outstanding As Ever!

What can one say about Andre Rieu? Outstanding as ever! A. Rieu fans will not be disappointed in "Tuscany". He takes one back in waves of nostalgia to a Europe of bygone days -- to ANYWHERE in the world of bygone days! All the homelands us "expatriates" long for and dream about. Personally, Andre's concerts and his music are the essence of ME. This, I tell my friends, is who I am, and what I'm all about. "But", my friends answer, "this is who we're all about too, and the essence of who WE are!" So we laugh and cry and sing along with ALL of Andre Rieu's fabulous concerts, "Tuscany" included. What I especially appreciate is that he delivers his commentary in the languages of the countries he's visiting, or that I can choose to hear it in German. This adds an extra-special touch of authenticity to his concerts, and to my "tears-in-wine" nostalgia while listening to them!
Andre Rieu transports the viewer and listener to a world of beauty, grace and elegance. If you're tired of hard-rock, cheap-shock, bug-a-loo music, Andre Rieu is for You!
Movie Review: Tuscany comes to your house

Andre once again gives us a thrill. The Romance of Tuscany, the beauty of the Johann Strauss Orchestra & the Charm of Andre. Filmed in Cortona, the beauty of the outdoor atmosphere matching the charm of Andre & the JSO. Speaking in Italian, Andre easily connects with his fans. Framed in the colors of Cortona, the city sets the background for a Romantic Evening. 'Romance Anonyme & I Love You' are soft and spirited at the same time. 'Barcarolle' beautiful. Who can resist dancing with the JSO as they play a waltz? Carmen is ever stunning as she sings O Mio Babbino Caro, bringing some of us to tears. You clap, You sing, You dance, You fall in Love. This is Andre at his best. Turn the lights down low, pour your favorite glass of vino and enjoy. This is a DVD to own.
*Andre just completed another Cortona concert, so let's hope for a follow up CD & DVD.

Movie Review: Defines beauty both visually and musically!

If you don't have an Andre Rieu concert DVD, let this be your first. All of the Andre Rieu concerts are amazing and both visually and musically "world class." They are a wonderful variety of vocal and instrumental, classical, standards, seasonal, and patriotic. But my favorite concert DVD of all time is this one done outdoors in the town square of Cortona, Italy. The song "O Mio Babbino Caro" by a young Carmen Monarcha still brings me to tears with its purity. The whole concert is stunningly beautiful visually. The people who were there that night will never forget the joy and beauty of that evening, and you can see it on their faces.
Movie Review: Andre's best showmanship

This concert was incredible, worth every penny. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, the sound, especially the Dolby 5.1 fades in and out, especially on Part I of the DVD. It seems to me that one of the digital microphones in the concert didn't work properly (I don't know); but I ignored the fading (and it didn't occur too frequently) and just enjoyed this concert. [Anyway, I can't take any stars off for the sound, because it's Andre] By the way, 85% of the DVD is the actual concert, 15% of the DVD is Andre playing his violin to his female singers in the Tuscan countryside. If you're in the mood for something romantic, Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss orchestra DVD is it. The beautiful music under the stars in Tuscany make the perfect setting. It will have you humming along or tapping your feet to the tunes you know and enjoying the showmanship of Rieu and his violin. The participation of the audience and the guest performers add to the fun. The CD is good, but the DVD adds so much with the opportunity to watch the performance and the scenery. After seeing it on TV, I bought a copy for each of my children for Christmas. It's the perfect gift to enjoy with the family.
