Movie Reviews of Analyze This

Movie Review: This ain't the Sopranos, but it's frickin funny
Summary: 5 Stars

If you like the MAFIA, you have to see this - Billy Crystal and Robert DeNiro are great together, and this has some of the funniest mob moments - like where he's trying to be a mobster , or where he askes "You don't here the word 'no' very often, do you?" and DeNiro replies "I do, but it's more like 'No!' 'Please God! Dont know!" or where he asks Robert DeNiro to "hit a pillow", so he pulls out his gun and starts shooting it... The DVD is OK, it's got a good gag reel, plus commentary from Crystal and DeNiro but not much else. Definately one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time.

Movie Review: A brief comment
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a very well done and very funny movie, much better than the second one which I just saw last night on HBO. Crystal and De Niro make a great team and it's obvious that they enjoy working together. The script is nothing less than excellent, and there's enough of both the comedy and the drama to keep you involved to the very end. This being a movie about the mafia, the flick could easily have ended up heavy-handed, but Ramis shows a deft and light touch here with his material. Overall a fine flick and significantly better than the sequel, which I could only give 3 stars.

Movie Review: Good mindless entertainment
Summary: 5 Stars

The movie is pretty funny. Robert De Niro demonstrates his suberb acting ability and Billy Crystal makes a reasonable attempt to meet the standard set by De Niro. Lisa Kudrow on the other hand appears to be far from versatile in her potential roles as she essentially acts just like Phoebe from Friends (complete with silly gestures).

The DVD special features are the trailer (almost a pretty standard feature on DVD nowadays) and the outtakes reel. I didn't consider the outtakes to be that great.

Overall though, it's pretty fun and I'd give the movie 7/10.

Movie Review: one of the funniest...
Summary: 5 Stars

I love to laugh anyway, but this is seriously one of the funniest movies I have EVER seen. Everything about it is well done with the one glaring exception of poor Lisa Kudrow, who is just completely out of sync with what is going on throughout the entire film. Other than that, Ramis has crafted a side-splittingly funny work. I dont usually ever "buy" videos (actually now I have a brand new dvd!) but this is one for the shelf...to pull out whenever you feel the world is being unfair... just sit back and howl.

Movie Review: Humor Brought to The Mob
Summary: 5 Stars

DeNiro suffers panic attacks and is conflicted about his father; Crystal is a Manhattan shrink with a "normal" clientele trying to get married to his girlfriend, Lisa Kudrow. En route, DeNiro makes Crystal an "offer" he can't refuse (to help DeNiro better understand himself), suspects Crystal of ratting him out to the Feds (Crystal had backed out), and finally achieves his breakthrough just as he is is about to knock Crystal off.

Good clean fun, with DeNiro getting more than his share of the laughs.
