Movie Reviews of AnacondaMovie Review: so bad that it's good! Summary: 4 Stars
This movie falls into that sacred genre of movies that are unintentionally funny because the plots, acting, etc. are so ludicrous. Seeing that this awful movie managed to draw in some considerable star power (Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, and "Rushmore's" Owen Wilson, for starters), this really is a gem!If you are a bad-movie lover, then you will appreciate many of this movie's elements. First off, the slithery villian. Of course, the REAL anaconda doesn't get larger than 25-30 feet, but this movie posits that they could grow to be 50-60 feet. The snake is just too much at times: It is huge, and yet it moves like a garter snake. Watching it run down people is hilarious. It also makes a noise similar to a lobster being boiled in a pot - that high-pitched "eeeeeeiiiiuuuuuwwwww" sound. Then there are the numerous one-liners and witty remarks from the characters. It's a never-ending stream of bad (but highly quotable) dialogue. Hey, I like movies that are described as "Oscar-worthy" or "instant classic," but it's movies like Anaconda (the dessert, if you will) that makes life all the more fun.
Movie Review: BROUGHT SOME MAD FEAR OF ANACONDAS!!! Summary: 4 Stars
who hasn't seen this movie. there's no need to describe it or explain it. just look at the cover. creepy enough huh? this movie was a okay. after this came out, everybody wanted to know about anacondas, how big are they really, do they eat people, etc. after that i'm guessing this film got a nice reaction out of people. jennifer lopez did nice, she's gotten better since, but her acting was good. ice cube, crazy man, nice job. owen, i like him better in comedies, but stands out nevertheless, and last but not least the man jon voight what a villian. great job. hated him, but loved him at the same time, very good actor. lured these people to the mighty anaconda, for the prize, he took control and never stopped. it was the good guys, against him, against the snake. the snake was so terrific, really enjoyed it, thought it was a thriller, and it left me chilled just to imagine. stay out of the jungle people.
Movie Review: Fun classic horror flick, better than average acting with exception of the snake Summary: 4 Stars
One of my favorite classic "B" rated horror films. The storyline is a bit more creative than most of the films in this genre, and the action and danger levels remain high from beginning to end. A group head out on a boat into the Amazon to film a documentary about a lost South American tribe and end up doing battle with giant anaconda.
Jon Voight seems ideally suited to the role of the creepy bad guy. Other familiar cast members who manage to elevate the quality of the dialogue include Owen Wilson, Ice Cube and Jennifer Lopez. Also, if you're a CGI junkie and just really get into the spectacular special effects in so many of today's action/horror flicks, then the giant anaconda in this film may seem comical in comparison to current standards. But again, take it for what it is and you'll have a good time watching this movie.
Movie Review: FACT OR FICTION? YOU DECIDE... Summary: 4 Stars
Suppose that following the upheaval of the Revolution, a single Romanov daughter eluded the clutches of those who murdered her father, the ruling Czar of Russia, to make a new life for herself hunting mammoth-sized snakes deep in the heart of the Amazon jungle; that's the intriguing premise of this live-action sequel to the the animated hit, ANASTASIA. Never feeling totally safe and always looking over her shoulder, the young Russian princess, (Jennifer Lopez in a knockout performance), adopts a new look, changes her name to Anna Conda, and embarks on a treacherous, peril-filled journey to meet her destiny - a giant snake. Entertaining from the first frame to the last, ANACONDA is also part history lesson and makes for one of the more interesting suppositions of what truly became of the heiress to the Romanov throne.
Movie Review: It's not as bad as everyone says it is. Summary: 4 Stars
There is no way that this is the best movie ever, nor is it the worst. I don't understand why so many people are down on this movie. It has a lot of action, and is pretty suspenseful, granted there are better movies out there, but this is a very good one in its own right. A boat full of people are making a documentary about a lost South American tribe. The group happens upon a skitsofrenic who is oppsesed with capturing this gigantic snake. He eventually takes over the boat. This leads up until the very end: a showdown between Jenifer Lopez, a giant snake, and Jon Voight. Don't let anyone fool you, this is a very good movie, not the best, but still very good. You would be well advised to give this movie the benifit of the doubt.
