Movie Reviews of An Unmarried WomanMovie Review: An Unmarried Woman Summary: 5 Stars
Driven by a compelling performance from lead actress Jill Clayburgh, who was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar, Paul Mazursky's sensitive drama is an iconic blend of the so-called woman's film and a plucky portrait of contemporary femininity. After a shattering split-up lands her in the open market, Erica's affair with a soulful painter, touchingly played by a scruffy Alan Bates, teaches her how to invest emotionally in another person without submerging her own identity. "Woman" offers a warm, perceptive, comic look at feminine self-reliance that still resonates. A spiritual precursor to "Sex and the City."
Movie Review: I LOVE THIS FILM Summary: 5 Stars
Loved this as much when I saw it a few weeks ago (I bought it) as when it came out. ALL WOMEN should have this film.
Jill Clayburgh fabulous, Alan Bates idem.
AND, for once, goes to show that the only way out of a painful divorce is NOT necessarily to hook up with the next attractive, intelligent, totally-to-drool-over guy. Although, wow. Is he ever tempting.
Waiting with baited breath for the next Jill Clayburgh film - even just the dance sequence in the beginning is a minor masterpiece.

Movie Review: enigma and fun Summary: 5 Stars
Of course Erica's husband does not come back to her - this is a story of a divorce, not a story about how baaaad divorcesd are and that we should all stay in flawed marriages. And of course Erica does not go with Saul: hey remain lovers, but it will take a lot for her to move in with another man. Maybe the 80s will make her do this...but I doubt it. A beautiful movie that also introduces New York City life to movies. But the dialogue between the girlfriends really sucks! We need women writers to do this - there are some weird situations...
Movie Review: An Unmarried woman Summary: 5 Stars
I love this movie and I really like Jill Clayburgh. I could really identify with this movie in being a single woman and all that we go through. It is a jungle out there and weeding through it can be scary at times. I like this movie and it is for any woman that can identify with what it is like to be single, starting over, or just being a woman with needs. I would recommend this movie.
Movie Review: Essential Movie for Divorcees Summary: 5 Stars
Divorcees will relate to this movie automatically...great cast...just brings up some essential things about the process of divorce, whether youre in the stages or past it...when Jill throws up at the mention of the beginnings that just expresses ...the process we all go thru...I saw this movie when it hit the screen, and it still comes up in conversation...a classic
