Movie Reviews of Amongst White CloudsMovie Review: Fantastic film about hermit monks Summary: 5 Stars
A deep and thoughtful film about the lives and motivations of Buddhist monks who choose to live in isolation in the mountains of central China. Their reflections on their personal journeys are interspersed with footage about the rhythms of their daily lives and the things that they do to sustain themselves and support their brethren scattered in the hills. While I have to admit some bias (I know the director/filmmaker) I think that the beauty of the film speaks for itself.
Movie Review: loved this film Summary: 5 Stars
this is a rare and well done documentary and exactly what i was hoping for. it shows the rigors and dedication of not only these monks and nuns but also of it's director Edward Burger. Burger had to go to tremendous lengths to make this film and is an interesting character himself. he does a great job facilitating a view into the solitary lives of the people who carry on a fading tradition without sensationalizing or exploiting them.
good job Edward. keep going.
Movie Review: Very touching documentary Summary: 5 Stars
This documentary is very touching, it shows chinese zen monks and masters, living isolated in the mountains and searching for the - let's call it Truth, awakening, true nature... Really amazing to meet these great persons. They live in a very simple way, beyong happiness and sadness, beyond loneliness. Fantastic faces, eyes, smiles, talks...
Movie Review: Amongst White Clouds Summary: 5 Stars
I foud this to be one of the best esoteric spiritual DVDs I have seen. It covers a very undercovered anbd historically significant subject. I enjoyed the DVD and found it quite informative; I can only wish I had seen it years ago, but we see things apparently when we are prepared to do so.
Respectfully submitted,
tbass
Movie Review: No Red Dust Here Summary: 5 Stars
Nice documentary and companion to Bill Porters 'Road To Heaven'. The photography is beautiful and the interviews with the hermit Monks brings reading about, and trying to live Everyday Zen, into perspective... Just Sit!
