Movie Review: This IS Hardcore Punk

i've been a part of the punk and harcore scene for 15 years now. this documentary is just what every newcommer needs to see. its a great door into what started it all. i highly recommend this to anyone intersted in understanding where your favorite band came from. my only negative thought is that the movie ends abruptly. after 1985 there were a few more inmportant hardcore bands but they are not mentioned i dont believe the scene just "died off". this movie obviously focuses on the history of hardcore but it would have been nice to see how some of the second generation bands came about. overall, i loved it!Movie Review: almost perfect

For a music/documentary its great. For a movie loosely based on a book not a great. It focused on the bands that most would expect it to, black flag, minor threat, bad brains and many lesser known bands. The only complaint that I have about the movie is that if you actually read the book their are people/ bands that you would expect to be interviewed. Which is why I didn't give it a 5 star. The live footage is good and so are the interviews. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Hardcore/Punk.Movie Review: Well done with the footage available

This movie really took me back. I was stoked to see footage that I never knew existed. Those who complain about the content forget this is all based in the years before cell phone cameras, this is before cheap VHS cameras. Besides those of us who were aware of this stuff at the time couldn't afford such cameras and didn't care. I think this is a well done documentary of a subculture that didn't care to be documented.Movie Review: Been waiting for a movie about this.....

I thought it was a pretty apt, documentary style piece about this scene. This period in American music was extremely important to alot of people, myself included. And, I think it definately shaped how punk and metal became in this day and age. Great interviews, awesome, raw live footage, and some cool bonus features make this a must have for anyone who gave a damn about hardcore from 1980-85/86!!!!!Movie Review: No Misfits

Ths Misfits were not mentioned at all. At all. WTF?!? There better be a seperate Misfits movie coming out then. Even the book has a whole chapter on them. The closest you get is a couple of clips of Bobby Steele, and you see the Crimson Ghost in the background of a lot of the interviews. That's why the movie only gets 4 stars from me.
Other than that, it's a great film.
