Movie Reviews of American Graffiti (Collector's Edition)

Movie Review: One of my Favorite Movies
Summary: 5 Stars

Im 17 years old, and have watched this movie as a little kid millions of times. My dad LOVES this movie. I got so sick of it that each time we watched it, i was always "daydreaming" of other things.

I wanted to give him a good gift and get him his favorite movie. I automatically thought of this movie and bought it instantly.

Well, I decided to watch it. (now that im older, able to understand what all the "kids" are going through.) It really hits home for a teenager to be graduating because all your friends truely are leaving and going seperate ways.

Now that i understand the lines and plot, it has become my favorite movie. The DVD makes the movie easier to follow, it doesnt have a near black scene unlike the VHS where it is amazingly grainy and dark. They even put in a new sky for the opening scene. Go check it out.

This movie is a best buy for any car racing person. The story/plot hits home to just about everyone. If you had friends in highschool, this movie is for you.

Movie Review: One of my all-time favorite flicks: fun, fun, fun all the way...
Summary: 5 Stars

When somebody I'd never heard of named George Lucas stuck this tale of a long night for some California teens into the theaters, I wasn't interested in it until I read a rave review in Time Magazine. So I saw it. And then took a girl to see it. And then talked some guy friends into seeing it. And then took another girl to it. And then saw it alone. All in all, I paid eight times to see this on the big screen in about eight weeks. So I like it. It made a few careers, not the least being Mr. Lucas himself, and introduced some important entertainers to the screen. The music score of pioneering rock numbers is as good on its own terms as the movie is. I still enjoy it when it shows up on cable television. If George had only had four film projects in his life, this one and the first three "Star Wars" films, he'd be just as important in movie history as he is anyway. I'm not sure any writer/director/producer ever had a better first ten years in the business than Mr. Lucas.

Movie Review: Yea! 1962 comes alive for all posterity
Summary: 5 Stars

How many times have you seen this movie? It just never gets tired, and the older I get, the more fun it is to watch it and realize how very many of the young then-unknowns have gone on to stupendously successful careers. I mean, George Lucas, Ron Howard, Harrison Ford (without the Indy hat, but the sneer is already present), Richard Dreyfus, Wolfman Jack, of course, and the list goes on and on...
It's so true to small town life in the early 60s, teenagers just having graduated from high school and about to take their first step into adulthood. The whole movie takes place during one hot summer night and manages to capture the look, cars, feel, morals, music, and hopes of that era. This collector's edition DVD includes a long and wonderful commentary by Lucas with interviews of some of the actors, behind-the-scenes production notes.
Tops. One to own - and watch it again with your kids when they ask you what it was like "back in the olden days."

Movie Review: BEST MOVIE EVER!! MADE!
Summary: 5 Stars

Yes, the BEST movie of all time for me and always will be! I had the true pleasure of seeing this film 10 times in the first year of release on the silver screen. This movie was held over for more than a year at the Westport Cine' in St. Louis, MO. I'm sure that has to be a record for any movie ever shown at the same theater without interuption.

This is a real, feel good movie. Great fun and makes me wish I was about eighteen years older and living in that town with George Lucas as a teenager. All the cruisin' and boozin' and teenage pranks and making out and the car-hop and school hop and a gang whose membership involves doing something very wrong. All this and a soundtrack that simply is classic rock of the late 50's and early 60's played for you from the town's own mysterious DJ (played by Wolfman Jack).

No one should pass through life without seeing this one of a kind classic. Don't debate, just buy this! And do it now!

Movie Review: It is more like a dream than a movie!
Summary: 5 Stars

Please believe me! I was 17 during the summer of '62, and this excellent movie seems more like a dream than an actual film. It captures the feelings, the personalities, the innocence better than any film of this type. George Lucas' lighting and pacing throughout this wonderful film casts a surreal, dreamlike feeling. The characters are believable, despite a cast of future all-stars. There's the common guys like Ron Howard and Richard Dreyfuss, the nerds, the hoods, and the local hot-rod legend. Even Harrison Ford makes his debut as a redneck hotrodder named Bob Falfa. McKenzie Phillips plays the typical 13-year-old. The music soundtrack features many of the 50's and 60's great hits with a hint of reverb adding to the dreamlike atmosphere. A poignant film, that leaves you emotionally drained at the end. Anyone who doesn't like this film must have no romance in their soul. Stick to WWF. This is one of the all-time greats!
