Movie Review: I LOVE THIS MOVIE

I first saw this film on its opening day and through present day it's still listed as one of my top favorites.
I saw American Dreamer before Desperately Seeking Susan, which had a slightly similar premise. I liked both films, and while both are somewhat dated, American Dreamer stands the test of time much better than the other film.
It has all the elements I love: wit, intrigue, romance, chemistry.... It's a great film! Tom Conti and Jobeth Williams are fabulous in this.

I rarely watch a movie more than once. I have watched this movie more times then I can count. Every time I don't feel well or am just blue, I pull this movie out. I saw it as a preview in the movie theater and it got a standing ovation. We could not believe how the critics panned it the next day. It is some of JoBeth Williams best work, Tom Conti is spectacular and James Staley as the obnoxious husband is amazing. This movie is a rare gift. This is a delightful romantic comedy romp with JoBeth Williams and Tom Conte, who have great chemistry. It is a little dated but still funny and more wholesome than many offerings today. Only a moderate success at the boxoffice, I'm sure there are lots of people out there who haven't seen and and would certainly enjoy this nicely written, directed, and acted movie. Check it out. Oh my goodness....this movie is one of my favorites and I actually found it by accident! Rented it years ago from a video store and loved it so much I bought it. I've had to replace my video 3 different times from wearing it out! So glad they make this in DVD now! Great movie to watch with your friends. My husband says it is a chick flick however he always likes to watch it too!!! If I could give it 10 stars I would!Movie Review: A great afternoon romp

I looked for years for this film. American Dreamer speaks to the dreamer in us all. An unhappy housewife with dreams of a more glamorous life who accidentally creates her dream life after suffering a blow to the head. Mass confusion and a cliche ending that works with instead of against the movie ensue. Intrigue, excitement and a wonderful new wardrobe, who wouldn't want to be Rebecca Ryan for a day.
