Movie Review: Wonderful escape!

I have loved American Dreamer ever since I was little and I'm so thrilled to finally get it on DVD! JoBeth Williams is hilarious as Cathy Palmer, a hardworking, caring and fun mother and wife, whose husband completely takes her for granted. When she wins a writing contest and a trip to Europe to meet her favorite author, she ends up having a marvelous adventure when she hits her head and wakes up believing she is the heroine of her favorite author's books-- a sexy, witty and daring spy named Rebecca Ryan. The cast is great, especially Tom Conti as Alan McMann, a man who gets caught up in Rebecca's "mystery solving." American Dreamer is a feel good and zany whodunit that you'll love to watch over and over again.Movie Review: I love this Movie

I love this movie!! I saw it when I was a little girl and still love it today. American Dreamer is about a housewife that always reads "Rebecca Ryan" Novels about a sexy female detective. Kathy, the main character, wins a trip to France to meet the author of her beloved novels. On her way to meet the novelist she gets in an accident, and wakes up in the hospital thinking she is Rebecca Ryan. The movie takes you along on her adventure of espianage, and love. I'm so glad this movie came out again, and on DVD. I looked several years ago and they stopped publishing it. If you are on the fence about this one, BUY it you will love it too.Movie Review: Simple hilarious movie...great screenplay! You'll watch it over and over!

This is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. If you love great comedy, and you love rooting for the little guy, this movie will make you smile. You have to watch closely from even the opening credits, there are so many subtle things you must pay attention to in order to fully appreciate the depth of the humor. I literally wore out two VHS tapes in the past 20 years because I watched this over and over and over. I am thrilled it is finally available on DVD. As a published romance writer, I'm in awe of all the twists and turns in this movie and it is one of the reason it tops the list of my favourite films. I love, love, love this movie and highly recommend it. It's filled with romance, action, adventure and intrigue, and is a charming and witty romp that does more than entertain you. If you are a fan of mystery novels and in the mood for a lighthearted comedy with plenty of laughs, this is for you. While the film starts as a domestic story, the craziness begins when the protagonist gets to Paris. Tom Conti's reactions are priceless as he is unwittingly thrown into a fictious scenario that becomes more real by the minute. Jobeth Williams is delightful in playing the catalyst that unknowingly unravels the mystery. All fans of films have their guilty pleasures--this one is mine.
