Movie Review: Ugh....So Bad
Summary: 2 Stars
The animation is VERY cheap, the main character whines constantly until you just wish she would die, and there are probably only 3 or 4 good laughts on this DVD. Somehow, I think this series could have been good, but it just isn't. The voice actress who plays Nanako is just plain annoying. If you're looking for fan service, you'll find some, although not much. Don't buy this DVD, maybe rent it.
Summary of Amazing Nurse Nanako - Memories of You (Vol. 1)
From the mind of the world's most brilliant scientist, comes the most powerful weapon of the 21st Century... Then again, maybe not. My name is Dr. Kyoji Ogami, the world's leading surgeon, scientist and bio-engineer. The young lady that you see here is Nanako Shichigusa. She works for me as a nurse, housekeeper and addle-minded troublemaker. But despite Nanako's flaws, she is about to become the subject of my greatest experiment. Her simple brain will be removed and transplanted into the body of my ultimate cybernetic combat robot, the Venus 2000!!! But that's only if we can survive a vast worldwide conspiracy that starts with the U.S. military and continues throughout the highest levels of the world's major powers. Do they just want me for my brilliant intellect, or is there something else that they desire? Could it possibly by Nanako? But, what could they want with a brainless girl like her? I'm sorry... I meant to say "soon to be brainless" ... once the operation is complete. Ha ha ha ha ha......!Despite the series title, Nanako Shichigusa is not a nurse, but the maid of Dr. Kyoji Ogami, an internationally noted surgeon and bio-engineer. She's also a klutz--wherever she goes, she breaks dishes, incinerates meals, slips, trips, and falls. Of course, her real function is sex object. She wears short skirts that hike up to show her panties and low-cut tops that accentuate her constantly jiggling cleavage. She frequently loses even these minimal garments, always when an audience is present. Dr. Ogami is often verbally and physically abusive and insists on her following a grueling athletic training regimen. For some reason she adores him.
Ogami is also involved in a top-secret bio-medical program involving "Green," an alien creature with three strands of DNA in its cells. The experiments are supervised by the Pentagon and the Vatican (!), and Ogami has to fend off the interference of a crotchety general and a frosty papal emissary. The slapstick sexual comedy fails to mesh with the sinister intrigue, and Nanakofeels like two ill-matched series imperfectly edited together. However fans of anime jiggle shows aren't likely to worry about plot nuances.
Rated for ages 16 and up for nudity, sexual situations, and violence. --Charles Solomon
