Movie Review: "All About You" An Old-Fashioned Love Story
Summary: 5 Stars
I must say with all my heart and soul, this is one of the best love stories I have ever seen. This is a story about two people who have both experienced recent losses and deception in their lives. They find each other and they Slowly fall in love in an old-fashioned kind of way.
There is no nudity or sex in this movie, and little profanity. But there is nothing boring about watching Brian (Terron Brooks) and Nicole (Renee Goldsberry) become each others' soul mates. Instead of being clouded with sexual scenes, they share an apartment, a tuna sandwich, music, their pain, and eventually love.
When Brian shares his sandwich with Nicole, I just melted. If I ever fall in love again, I hope it's slow and real like it was in "All About You." The music is wonderful; many of the songs were written and sung by Renee Goldsberry and Terron Brooks who also played Eddie Kendricks in "The Temptations." Terron sang all but one of his song parts in "The Temptations."
The chemistry between them was so beautiful in this movie. I am happy to hear that someone else has watched this movie over and over again. I have watched the movie about ten times in the past week. For me, it ranks up there with "Splendor in the Grass", "Imitation of Life", "The Thorn Birds", "Dr. Zhivago", and "The Temptations", which are my favorite movies.
I congratulate the many talents who brought this wonderful love story to us. It was just nice to see an African-American love story that did not throw a lot of sexual scenes and profanity at us. It was great to see a movie where family values were just that - Values, and not one person called a woman a B----. It was also nice to watch an African/American movie where no one called his Brother, a N-----. I am a little fed-up with that language.
I suggest, all parents watch this movie with your young sons and daughters to let them see how a man and woman should treat each other. But remember,your examples are the most important. This movie will remind all of you - of your first love. And none of us ever forgets our first love.
