I recently read the book on which this film is based, and now can't believe that the screenwriter chose to ignore the latter chapters of the book detailing the rescue. Artistically I can understand the choice, but, jeez, to not portray that first meal of beans and rice on the farmer's dining table after 70 days in the mountains, or the moment when the army of reporters descended on the farmer's home; the rescue helicopters braving the fog, the reunions with family and the tearful statement admitting cannibalism at the press conference in the hotel? These might be obvious choices dramatically, but this is the kind of elemental story in which the obvious choices are the right ones. What a disappointment!
A good film, but woefully incomplete.
