Movie Review: Honest, Humbling and Humorous

With subject matter like the 1972 crash in the Andes, how could the film not be raw and compelling? Surprising, though, is the quality of depth this movie portrays without taking itself too seriously. There are light moments -- Carlitos' birthdays and the picture of the little girl & cake -- but the real strengths of the film are the subtle nuances brought to life by delicate character-actor performances. Inspiring, entertaining, educational, delightful . . . Alive is the first movie I bought on DVD, and for good reason -- I love it.Movie Review: An amazing film

This is an amazing depiction of a true story about an airplane crash in the Andes and the people who survived - and those who didn't. Cannibalism is one aspect of the film, but I found I could easily understand how that happened. Several of the survivors in this movie were true heroes. Although parts of this film were very disturbing and difficult to watch, I found it to be a great reminder of the good fortune and lack of true tragedy that many of us take for granted. Great story, a true film, the director and screenwriter truely re-created the event that happened over the Andes mountains. I love this film for 3 reasons, very well casted, acting is great and added lots of life to the film and the story is so extraordinary. I own the video and must of watched it over a hundred times and im patiently awaiting the DVD release. I strongly urge everyone to see this movie its really a great movie and has a great message about the power of the holy spirit.Movie Review: Great movie about survival and the spirit of a human being!!

The fact that this movie is based on actual events is absolutely amazing. What these young men had to overcome even in one day is a test to the human spirit. The fact that they survived in the harsh conditions of mountains with below freezing temperatures for as long as they did really blows your mind away. A great movie with a great cast really brings the emotions of these young men out to where you truely care about them and their survival. Now some people say this is the greatest story of survival ever told, but honestly, I dont share that opinion. I laughed harder while watching this movie than any comedy ever. This movie is the greatest comedy ever. I laughed from start to finish. The best line, "Pass the co-pilot." I still crack up at that. Sometimes when I have had a bad day, I pop this DVD in, and it cheers me up. Kudos to the man who directed this movie, you have mad a comic gem for later generations.
