Movie Reviews of AkiraMovie Review: There simply is nothing else like it Summary: 5 Stars
I had heard of Akira for many years, but I knew to truly make my own opinion of the film I had to put aside all preconceived bias or influences. That having been said, I must say this is one of the BEST films of any genre! Many other reviewers have mentioned that the plot is confusing. I would say that it is a bit, but that is not a critcism! Too many films suffer from a lack of storyline altogether. This was a welcome change! My recommendation: Watch this film! Make sure you have plenty of time and no distractions....you will love it
Movie Review: What a great Anime! Why doesn't every body have it? Summary: 5 Stars
This anime rocks every one deserves to be given a free copy, EVERYONE! (including people who don't have VCR's) It's a bit hard to understand the first time, so you need to see it twice or more. I like the characters and the animation is brilliant. Wide screen is the best by far. Get it dubbed, it's much easier to understand. If you like anime you'll like this. It's like Vampire Hunter D and a little like Ninga Scroll. The only down side is the confusing story line, but once you see it twice it's no problem at all.
Movie Review: Best Anime ever made, but Amazon's review is kind of off... Summary: 5 Stars
This is the best Anime that has ever been made - the animation is great, and the deep story will cause you to watch it over and over. But to quote Amazon.com's review: "...the hope of mankind lies in a motorcycle punk by the name of Akira, whose own dormant powers arise during the conflict..." - I don't quite think that Akira is the motorcycle punk in the movie. It goes to show that not everything on major sites is perfect. Oh, well. Buy the movie anyway! You won't regret it.
Movie Review: One of the great Anime Classics is Back! Summary: 5 Stars
When I saw this film for the first time, just a few months ago (that's months, not years), I thought it was incredible -- if confusing, due to the overload of compressing all of the story in just two hours. After a short while of having my brain go back to the events, I tried to get a copy of this film -- only to find that none were available. The film was no longer on the shelves. Now Akira is back, available to own! For those who know, GET IT! This is a landmark film.
Movie Review: Best anime that i has never seen. Summary: 5 Stars
Quality of animation is enviable for any computer working. History is complex, but interesting. This one is a stranger balance between the phylosophical notes in "Blade Runner" of Ridley Scott and the violent pitch of fable in "Orange Clockwork" of Stanley Kubrik. Ending is cryptic like "2001, Odissey of Space".Nevertheless, ideological background is opossite to much western science fiction movies (perhaps, excepting "Blade Runner").
