Movie Review: The best Anime of all time?
Summary: 5 Stars

Not to say this is a bad thing, of course! The plots all tend to involve nuclear explosions, huge monster menaces, supernatural powers, and demons (with a few pretty boygirls for good measure).

Akira doesn't stray far from this plot, but does it with such style and feeling that you cannot help love it. This is nothing to say for the animation itself, which utilises a lot of techniques to produce a 'cartoon' that oozes atmosphere; from the first shot of the dying man to the finale; Akira's final gift.

It is veined with sadness throughout, especially for the children who never grew up, the quest to find Akira, the dreamlike child whose power could not be controlled (and reputedly caused the original apocolypse).

If you want to give Anime a shot, buy this. Please. Okay then, rent it. Or borrow it. Do something, just try and see it!
