Movie Reviews of Action Words! 1Movie Review: Action Words Summary: 4 StarsI bought this DVD for my grandson who is three years old and was diagnosed with autism when he was two. His sister is four. Both of these children loved watching the video but did not want to repeat watching like with the Bounce videos. I thought the DVD was well put together. I think it was a little slow for these two children. They like music and up tempo music. I still would recommend this video and I just put it on in between their other videos. You cannot get enough variety.
Movie Review: great interaction Summary: 5 StarsMy boys have all loved these videos. They have increased their vocabulary through these videos and can watch them repeatedly.
Movie Review: Autistic son knew these words after one weekend Summary: 5 StarsWow, they aren't kidding that your child will learn these words after a weekend of watching this. He knew them all. He is high functioning autistic, but it really got through to him. I understand from other friends that their autistic children receive the BumbleBee videos very well too.
Movie Review: DVDs for children on the Autism Spectrum Summary: 4 StarsAt three years old my son was non-verbal (and on the Autism Spectrum), so someone suggested these BumbleBee brand dvds. I bought a 10 pack, which included Action Words and Vocabulary builders.
They're very slow and repetitive, so it didn't keep my son's interest at first. But after a while if I kept them on, my son would start saying the words while playing by himself. After about 6 months, he became more interested in them and would be more attentive.
They're also very basic. Examples are "Ball." They would show examples of kids with a ball. "Ball." "Ball." They would show more balls, "Ball." Again, slow and repetitive, but they worked for my son. I was thrilled when he went and got a brush out of the bathroom and kept saying, "Brush."
The kids are adorable, the production value is decent - mostly white backgrounds, the music is fine. Unlike Baby Einstein (which I also adore, but for different reasons) they're pretty straight forward and educational - no jokes or silliness, although the kids in the dvds are happy and joyful.
Overall, if you're looking for an educational tool for a typically developing toddler they're fine, but I highly recommend for children with verbal delays.
Movie Review: very good, though slightly amateurish Summary: 4 Starsit helped my two year old who does considerably well with nouns but not at all with verbs. it was worth the money but would be nice if there were some more words, and less repetition...i mean if i want to repeat sections for her, i can always replay the chapters right?
