Movie Reviews of About Last Night

Movie Review: About Last Night still holds water
Summary: 4 Stars

I can't believe I've only just seen this movie for the first time. SUCH a realistic insight into first (real) love and what living together must be like. My favorite aspect was how it portrays the strain that being in a relationship puts on your friendships. I liked it even more than the John Hughes movies of that era because of it's realism-Hughes would sometimes sacrifice the truth for a joke. The only part I found unrealistic was the ending-too Hollywood, considering the rest of the movie had an independent film feel (hence the four stars rather than five).
Rob Lowe and a very flat-chested Demi Moore give spot-on performances. Elizabeth Perkins is hilarious as the best friend. Fantastic writing based on a Mamet Play. A must see. Definitely made me think twice about living with someone too early in a relationship.

Movie Review: Honest and realistic slice of life
Summary: 4 Stars

Rob Lowe and Demi Moore attempt to turn a one night stand into a solid live-in relationship, against all odds. Lowe is terrified of commitment, and Moore doesn't want to be a notch on his bedpost. Jim Belushi is Lowe's pal, a stereotypical loudmouth buddy with all the advice on women, yet never seems to be with one. Elizabeth Perkins is Moore's friend, who's repulsed by Belushi and cynical about her friend's new relationship, although I detect a hint of jealousy. Very realistic portrayal of a blossoming relationship, the ups and downs, and the (occasionally brutal) realization that it's not all heart-shaped candy. A great movie for those who are involved, or who wants to be, and much more realistic and fulfilling than it's cousin "St. Elmo's Fire".

Movie Review: a good movie...
Summary: 4 Stars

This is basically a movie about the adult single scene in the mid to late 80's. It's based in Chicago and is about a couple that gets together after a "one night stand" struggling with love and life. Throw in their friends that are not trying to help in the least (his is the typical @#$hole and her's the typical b@#$%). All four actors play their parts well and this remains one of my favorite movies from the 80's.

I've watched this movie several times and even bought the soundtrack. I recommend it for a good watch. This is back when Demi Moore was absolutely beautiful in my opinion

Movie Review: EDWARD ZWICK, OPUS 1
Summary: 4 Stars

***1/2 1986. Directed by Edward Zwick, the movie is an adaptation of David Mamet's SEXUAL PERVERSITY IN CHICAGO: Sexual Perversity in Chicago and the Duck Variations: Two Plays. It's a romantic comedy about the anxiety of bachelors in front of commitment and marriage. The performance of the four main characters is superb and the description of the feelings of Rob Lowe and Demi Moore well observed. Recommended.

Movie Review: ABOUT LAST NIGHT!
Summary: 4 Stars

You will be AMAZED at what they did to DAVID MAMET's play "Sexual Perversity in Chicago!" THRILL as ROB LOWE and DEMI MOORE let an innocent liaison become a LOVE AFFAIR! WATCH as second bananas JAMES BELUSHI and ELIZABETH PERKINS steal the film! THINK about the implications for love when CONVENIENCE and NECESSITY rear their ugly heads! WONDER whatever happened to director EDWARD ZWICK and then remember he does "Once and Again" on TV! ENJOY this adult comedy about ADULT relationships!
