Movie Reviews of AC/DC - Live at Donington

Movie Review: The best AC/DC DVD you can buy!
Summary: 5 Stars

It's amazing to me that you can pick up an AC/DC concert video on DVD in full 5.1 surround sound for about half the price that the original VHS version sold for in 1992. All hail the DVD format!

Of the three major AC/DC concert videos released on DVD so far (Stiff Upper Lip Live, No Bull, and this one), Live At Donnington to me is the best, if only for the superior setlist. The only one of AC/DC's major hits missing is "Who Made Who" (it's available on the CD version, "AC/DC Live"). This concert DVD also marks the one and only tour where drummer Chris Slade was in the band. He was later replaced by original drummer Phil Rudd. Nothing against Mr. Rudd (hard to mess with the original), but Slade is a much more charismatic individual and one heck of a drummer to boot. His bald head and the gleeful look on his face as he bashes the crap out of his drums gives the band a third strong visual persence (right after the omnipresent Angus Young and Brian Johnson) that only adds to the band's appeal.

Movie Review: Rock at its best!
Summary: 5 Stars

AC/DC has done it again. If the video for Donnington was good, this is unbelievable. Angus is top notch-duck-walk, head bobbing, screaming and all. The band is solid, with Brian cranking out like always. The sound overall is great. If it is overdubbed, which is possible, its still AC/DC, and the music is all here. Favorites like "Whole Lotta Rosie" and "Back In Black" shine, and even some lesser-known tunes are hammered out in this spectacular performance. There's some commentary on the show (done by Angus and Malcolm) and some info and commentary on their discography (also done by Angus and Mal), as well as a new, great feature. Dubbed "Angus Cam", you can view certain tracks with the camera focusing on a certain band member (such as Thunderstruck with Angus) This option is great, and adds to the already immense DVD. A must have for a fan of AC/DC, or just someone who can't wait to sit down and be sucked into the world of Rock and Roll.

Movie Review: Never a dull moment
Summary: 5 Stars

AC/DC never fails to put on a spectacular performance and this DVD captures it well on film. Unfortunately, I've never had the honor to see them live for real, but I can only imagine how awesome that would be. They have a real stage presence that seems to be nonexistant in the music of today. "Family Jewels" is a good buy also, has the Bon Scott performances.

1. THUNDERSTRUCK
2. SHOOT TO THRILL

Movie Review: Wow! !! what a dvd!
Summary: 5 Stars

Ive been a big fan of the thunder from down under for years and i have both of their other two dvds.. No bull and Stif Upper lip Live. This dvd is better then both of them.. for the most part..
Angus and his guitar sound great he never misses a note.. exept in Let there be rock when his guitar sound flickers on and off when hes doing a signature move.. The set list is great. The four songs that are performed better then in the othere dvds are Thunderstruck, Back in Black, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, and Highway to Hell. The bonus features in this dvd are very interesting espacially if you are a die hard fan. The 5.1 audio mix is amazing i can even here the echos and such of the croud and amps making you feel like youre there at the concert. If youre even a tiny bit of a fan buy this dvd.. if youre a huge fan buy all three of them!!!! Thats what i did!

Movie Review: AMAZING
Summary: 5 Stars

first off i love AC/DC. i may be young but ive been listening to them since i was 5. So being as it was i had to get my hands on this. I saved up the 10 $ nd bought it. i immediately started watching. from the powerful opening of THUNDERSTRUCK to the closing FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK (WE SALUTE YOU) i was glued to the tv. the camera operation nd execution is amazing capturing everything from the roaring crowd to beneath Angus Young's feet. Angus Young is possibly the greatest guitar player ever. Playing so fast nd with such precision i couldnt help but play air guitar along with him. Chris Slade doesnt skip a beat on drums supplying the heart beat of every song. Brian Johnsons vocals are wut pulls them apart from all the rest of the bands. i better wrap this up cuz i got homework to do. so uh yea just buy it u wont regret it. AC/DC ROCKS!!!!!!!
