Movie Reviews of AC/DC - Live at DoningtonMovie Review: Why would anyone not like this dvd?!?!?!?!? Summary: 5 Stars
This is by far the best AC/DC live DVD to be released! Period.
everything is up to par. The sound is great, it does not sound like it was redubbed unless someone thinks that Angus sat in a studio re-recording all of his riffs again, which I very much doubt it. The sound and vocals are AMAZING! Brian Johnson and really shows that he is a great lead singer. Though I would much more prefer Brian over Bon Scott. Brian's voice being more scratchy and louder when he sings. I think that most peoples problem with this dvd is they tried to find things wrong with it, so they payed more attention to mistakes rather then the actual concert, which is just sad. Because they missed a great concert.

But if you are a true fan of AC/DC, and want something that you will be sure to watch more then a few times....Get AC/DC Live at Donington. You will be glad that you did! I would also recommend AC/DC STIFF UPPER LIP dvd if you enjoy this one.
Movie Review: Monster Show By A Larger-Than-Life Band Summary: 5 Stars
Fantastic 2 hour 18 song set from England's now famous site of many a rock concert - Donnington. 5.1 Dolby Surround fills your room with crisp sound. Great camera work. Rich colors. An overload of energy on stage with AC/DC members (Brian Johnson - vocals, Angus & Malcolm Young - guitars, Chris Slade - bass, and Cliff Williams - drums). Absolutely huge crowd scenes - more than any show I've ever scene - on TV or in person. Roving (helicopter) ariel camera shots. Massive speakers making the Young brothers look like minature rug-rats prancing around on stage. This was truly the definition of a monster show. Check out the guitar solo's on "Jailbreak", "Hell's Bells", and "High Voltage" - simply amazing Angus! Great 1991 show and thanks for putting this out finally on DVD with superior sound.A great song list midway through AC/DC's "Razors Edge" tour: 1. Thunderstruck, 2. Shoot To Thrill, 3. Back In Black, 4. Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be, 5. Heatseeker, 6. 6. Fire Your Guns, 7. Jailbreak, 8. The Jack, 9. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, 10. Moneytalks, 11. Hells Bells, 12. High Voltage, 13. Whole Lotta Rosie, 14. You Shook Me All Night Long, 15. T.N.T., 16. Let There Be Rock, 17. Highway To Hell, 18. For Those About To Rock (We Salute You).
Movie Review: For those About to Rock !!! Summary: 5 Stars
Absolutely Best at the Highest possible Volume on a Surround sound system.
AC/DC Deliver for the fans, and they deliver consistently.
I doubt very much that the DVD is Overdubbed, since the Sound is the Same as Every other AC/DC Release. But even if it is overdubbed, WHAT THE HELL...
This is a Great Show, and the Goods are delivered.
Angus Plays brilliantly, and works the crowd superbly. As for the alleged disparity between what you see and what you hear... Angus is 5"2, so his playing of the Gibson SG he uses is deceptive, it looks one way when physically he is producing the sound by what his body does and his left hand technique. Hard to explain, but what you see is not always what you hear.
The other thing that I thought any Movie viewer would know, is that In Making a Concert Film, a Second , third, or whatever, camera is used for "Inserts", and this is matched as best as can be done... which does not always work; this does not mean that the Track is overdubbed, merely that the Line editor, and the Final Edit did not match.
Anyway, this is Superb.
Get NO BULL: LIVE IN MADRID, and The DVD of AC/DC Live in Munich... Extremely Brilliant !!!!!!!!
This is a real Step up from the Original VHS Release.
Movie Review: What a show! What a DVD! Summary: 5 Stars
Even if you aren't a hard rock fan, but love music, then you should get this DVD just because of its shear power and full on rocking. Some reviews have complained about the sound or the picture quality and yes if you put on good quality headphones some of the songs sound that good and spot on that you swear you are listening to the album track but this only enhances the visuals. As for the picture quality they are as good as any I have seen for a live concert, considering alot of it was shot at night time.
Basically this is 2 hours of non stop great music, helped by one of the best, most energetic and hardest playing guitarists in the world. Helped by a powerhouse drummer who looks as strong at the end of the show as he does at the beginning and a bass and second lead guitarist who basically stand still for the whole 2 hours (as they always have) and just add fuel to the fire. But most of all a tight band who just play incredible simple riffs that just keep coming and coming. My favourites would be the 17 minute version of "Let There Be ROCK" and the opener "Thunderstruck".
I'm not a big AC/DC fan but this would be one of my favourite music DVDs! Turn it up!!
Movie Review: I Wish I Was There.... Summary: 5 Stars
Well, I've been a fan of AC/DC for a few months now, ever since someone played Back In Black in the locker room, and they are one of the best live acts ever. A few months later, i decided to go to the record store across the street and spend all my lunch money for the week on this DVD. It proves that AC/DC. I haven't watched the whole thing, I must admit, but I saw enough to impress me beyond my wildest dreams. It has a classic lineup of songs, nearly all of the classics. As another reviewer put it, Brian Johnson does a great job of covering Bon's songs, like Highway to Hell, Dirty Deeds, T.N.T. and others. I cant comment much on sound quality, because the audio on my TV is screwed up and i couldn't hear Angus at all. My little brother was playing with his friends in the same room, so I didn't dare play Whole Lotta Rosie, hearing about the inflatable girl... All in all, this is a great DVD. I believe the back of the box put it best: 'Live at Donington is one of hte greatest live concert documents of all time.'
