Movie Reviews of ABBA The Movie

Movie Review: Purely Accidental
Summary: 4 Stars

I saw this movie purely accidental. The group ABBA, although a big hit in Europe and Australia, was not known in the Philippines when this film came out. Our music at that time came basically from the U.S.A. In fact, the movie was just a filler for 3 days in a singular theater. I had an hour to waste while waiting for my next appointment. I decided to go to the almost-empty theater to rest in an air-conditioned place. Boy, this was the first time I heard them and I was hooked! I ended up enjoying a good movie, but I was almost an hour late for my appointment. Ever since, I"ve been an avid ABBA fan and have collected all their CDs.

Movie Review: amazing live performances make this a 4 star movie
Summary: 4 Stars

I'd love to give this one five stars, but the plot of this movie is truly lame. With that being said, if there is anybody out there who is disapointed by the live ABBA dvd and live cd that are out there currently, then you may want to give this movie a try. The live footage was a real pleasure to watch and listen to from what I can remember. I haven't seen this movie in a few years now so it's kinda hard to give a good review. Basically if you are an ABBA fan, then you should enjoy this one....as long as you can look past the corny plot of the movie and just enjoy the live music.

Movie Review: It's the real deal this time!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

Just wanted to let everyone know that the movie's release is for real this time. Saw it at Walmart (for under $10 no less) and can't wait to watch it.

Have seen the movie several times, most recently on TCM, and while it's not great art, it is an enjoyable docudrama tracing a dj's attempts to interview ABBA during their 1977 tour of Australia. Agnetha gets off some great one-liners related to her backside and the supposedly enhanced sound and picture should make the concert footage a real treat.

Movie Review: Better than expected.
Summary: 4 Stars

Many of the reviews for "ABBA The Movie" are pretty poor. I actually like the movie and all the live footage. The plot is simple and not all that great - some reporter trying to get an interview all the way through the movie. They were one of the greatest groups of all time and this movie shows it.

Movie Review: Silly yet enlightening...
Summary: 4 Stars

ABBA The Movie, has an interesting plot that never quite developes into a satisfying view. That said, the movie presents an era and unique glimpse behind the scenes that we have not seen before. For an ABBA fan, the romp is enlightening.
