Movie Reviews of A Man Called Peter

Movie Review: An awesome film adaptation to the best-selling biography...
Summary: 5 Stars

This film, although it distorts a few facts and does not tell the complete story of Peter Marshall as the book does, is an awesome, heart moving account of the life of a Scottish boy who wanted so badly to go to sea and yet became a minister of God to the highest ranking people in Washington D.C.
The scene in the fog is done magnificently and followed what I had imagined his calling to be when I first read the book. He did not graduate "Summa Cum Laude" as the film boasts but not too far from it...he actually earned the "Magna Cum Laude" title when he graduated from Colombia Theological Seminary.
The acting is out of this world and Richard Todd and Jean Peters outdid themselves in bringing this story to life.
This film was everything I imagined it could be and was a source of encouragment and guidance for me during some of my own family's spiritual trials. In the book of James we are warned that in this world we will have tribulations and the same is true for the best that have walked among us. Thanks be to God for Peter and Catherine Marshall - two servents after God's own heart.

Movie Review: A Man Called Peter
Summary: 5 Stars

"A Man Called Peter" focuses on the life of Peter Marshall, onetime Senate chaplain. An elegant yet fiery preacher, Marshall made the most of his life for God's glory.

Some of the scenes covered in the dvd include:

1. Meeting his future wife - Catherine.
2. Life in Atlanta.
3. Being called to the Washington DC church where Presidet Abraham Lincoln attended.
4. Preaching at the US Naval Academy.
5. Time as Senate chaplain.
6. Relationship with wife Catherine and son Peter John.
7. Health issue that eventually claimed his life.

The movie was touching, wholesome, and entertaining. A great film for anyone wanting to learn more about the Marshalls or interested in a family friendly movie.

Highly recommended.

Movie Review: A Wonderful Story
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of those movies that will warm your heart and truly make you feel good. Ernest Hemingway once said that all true stories end in death, and this is a true story. But that aside, and even though the title character, Peter Marshall, meets his death, it is not at all sad, it is the story of how a man lived and the wonder he brought into his life and the joy of all those he touched. The performances of Richard Todd and Jean Peters are riveting and powerful. I don't believe that any other actor could have portrayed this character any better. This film shows an era in Hollywood that was remarkable, and the actors relied on talent, not effects. This movie is a must see for all ages, definitely a family picture. It is an inspiration.

Movie Review: A Man Called Peter
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful movie about the life of Peter Marshall, who rose to become the miniter to the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington DC which was also Abraham Lincoln's church that was two blocks from the White House. Peter Marshall also became the Chaplain of the United States Senate. This movie is also a love story-the love Peter Marshall had for his Maker, and the tender and romantic love for the girl he married. Peter Marshall was Scottish and I was very pleased that the movie makers got Scottish actor Richard Todd to play his part because he was the perfect actor and did a excellent job. This is truely a wonderful movie and I highly recommend it.

Movie Review: A Man called Peter
Summary: 5 Stars

An Excellant movie, dramatised and played very well by it's leading actor Richard Todd as the late Peter Marshall. It shows the patience and reliance on God's timing in circumstances that's beyong our control and how Catherine Marshall(Jean Peters ) endures them throught the movie. It also underscores that God's calling is always manifested in peculiar ways, which is beyond human understanding. Peter Marshall was truly a man of God. A great movie. Good buy. Only regret is: It would have been great if the audio was done in 5.1. Don't get me wrong the audio is still as good in it's present state.
