Movie Reviews of A Little Romance

Movie Review: As wonderful as Venice at sunset when the bells toll...
Summary: 5 Stars

This has to be one of the most under-appreciated movies of all time. George Roy Hill had directed two of the best comedies of the late 60s-early 70s, Butch Cassidy... and The Sting. Then he made this gem...

Two lonely teenagers in Paris, a street-wise French boy and a sheltered American girl, both of whom are hiding their genius IQs in order to fit in, fall in love and realize how lucky they are to have found each other. With help from a romantic old con artist (Lawrence Olivier at his best; he should have done more comedy), they run away to Venice to make their love last forever. They have a wonderful adventure, and along the way, Hill pokes fun at American tourists, pays tongue-in-cheek homage to his own great movies, and shows us how beautiful life can be when you're different.

Movie Review: I love this MOVIE!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie so hit home with me. I was a little bit younger than the main characters when I first saw this, but I still was able to relate very well. It is such a sweet and beautifully well made movie. I can remember catching this movie just recently on Showtime family and I was so happy because this was the day I took off from work!! And now I just bought the movie so that I can enjoy it forever. Everytime I see it, I always begin to cry when "Julius" leaves the kids in the movie theater at the door and kisses the window "goodbye" the walks up to the policemen and states, "Gentelemen I believe you are looking for me"... Oh..I'm about to cry now!!! But please watch this movie with your family, friends, and those that you love. Trust me, they will thank you!!

Movie Review: TOUCHING,HONEST,BEAUTIFUL, DIANE'S BEST
Summary: 5 Stars

A Little Romance is one of those films that once you see it, it will stay with you forever. It is nothing but mesmerising, touching, funny honest, gentle, beautiful. This is a film made for every age. Diane Lane,Therlonious Bernard, Laurence Olivier are fantastic. The scenary of Venis is absolutely beautiful and there's something about the film that gentle and honest. Diane Lane like always is excellent. There's always something about Diane, you can see in her performances that she is older than her years, which I adore about her. Diane is just gorgeous as always. I definitely recommend this film to anyone that wants a little romance in their lives.

Movie Review: "Unfaithful" & "Perfect Storm" star DIANE LANE in her debut!
Summary: 5 Stars

"A Little Romance" was the very first film to star the wonderful DIANE LANE who has since become a big star in films like "Unfaithful", "The Perfect Storm" and "Murder At 1600". She shows here, even at 12 years old, that she is a capable and beguiling actress. She plays Lauren with a quirkiness that is very cute and warming. LAURENCE OLIVIER is of course, brilliant as well and the two have a great chemistry. This film has grown in popularity over the years and now that DIANE LANE is an A-List star, maybe it will get a DVD release. A heart-warming and involving love story with great footage of Paris and Venice. Great! Very recommended!

Movie Review: Beautiful film
Summary: 5 Stars

There is no way that I can improve upon the comments already noted for this great film. One actor not mentioned by name is the stepfather of Lauren, played by Arthur Hill. He also appeared in The Andromeda Strain as a scientist. A Little Romance is perhaps one of the most touching, innocent and remarkable films made on young love. Wouldn't it be nice if teenagers had movies like this to watch these days instead of the mean-spirited Hollywood claptrap that spews out from studios. I am overwhelmed that the film has elicited such great reviews from all of you. I knew that there were still some people out there with great taste.
