Movie Reviews of A Letter to Three WivesMovie Review: I've been penetrated and saturated! Summary: 5 Stars
What a great film! They don't make them like this anymore, do they? Sharp wit and sly innuendo by genuis writer/director Joseph L. Mankiewicz, and a delightful cameo appearance by former crooner and hunting dog enthusiast Carl Switzer! (He is told that he smells bad.)
Only in 1949 could the effects of radio advertising be described as "penetrating and saturating" without further comment from an Adam Sandler type of character. Mankiewicz absolutely rules!
Movie Review: LINDA DARNELL AND A GREAT SCRIPT ! Summary: 5 Stars
The CRISP dialogue and UNBELIEVEABLE performance of LINDA DARNELL makes "A LETTER TO THREE WIVES" a must-see motion picture.LINDAS' scenes, with film boyfriend\husband , Paul Douglas sizzle! Add excellant performances by Thelma Ritter [always],Kirk Douglas,Ann Sothern, and as LINDAS' mother Coonie Gilcrist, and you have sure-fire can't miss entertainment.LINDA DARNELL, in my view, was a badly mishandled actress.Foz greatly misused her and MAUREEN O'HARA.
Movie Review: GREAT MOVIE!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the best movies of all time! I am thrilled that it is on DVD and I was able to purchase it. I sold my VHS movies and sold the one I owned and was very lucky that they had this movie available in DVD format. You will love this movie. It is clever and funny and has you guessing all throughout the movie. There are great characters delivered to you by even greater actors! It is a must own!
Movie Review: An Unsung Hollywood Classic Summary: 5 Stars
This movie is more than good; it should be on your list of classic films to see or own. A near perfect 1940s flick, from an era when Hollywood churned out movie after movie that featured - - gasp! - - real acting and not just non-stop action and noise. Gee, what they could accomplish with a backlot, a soundstage, and a minimal budget. . .
Movie Review: Warning: Black and white Summary: 5 Stars
Being a person who collects old Technicolor movies, I was deeply disappointed to find out that A Letter To Three Wives is NOT a colour film as listed on this Amazon site, but a B/W movie. Nevertheless, a great one, and the documentary about Linda Darnell is a well made one.
