Movie Review: The Beatles" A Hard Days Night" DVD box set
Summary: 5 Stars

If you loved the Film , "A Hard Days Night" you will love this.

It is done well, the pictures are clear and sharp and the story is excatly the same as it was in 1964.

It is great and the Humor of the lads is "priceless".

You can now watch them over an over and laugh all over again.
I know I did.

I love the "Train Scence" It is prob. my Fave.

" I love "Who's that little ole man".

It just makes me laugh.

I hvae the box set of "A Hard Day's Night" and "Help", you need both of them in your collection

Every Beatles lover needs all of their 5 movies on DVD.

Movie Review: Striking the fire
Summary: 5 Stars

After their first visit to the U.S. and three appearances on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964, the brains behind The Beatles, one Mr. Brian Epstein, decided to strike the fire while it was hot. In doing so, he created a phenomenon that few bands have ever witnessed or experienced other than The Beatles. "A Hard Day's Night" was the result. With this movie (in black & white) and the album release, he created a marketing plan that is still being used by many today. This movie gives the viewer a supposed look into the lives of the Beatles before and up to a televison performance. No doubt, these dudes were being seriously chased in real life, and this movie gives us a look at the madness from their perspective. If you've never seen this, watch it, you just may learn something. And while it's from a time of different attitudes and a simpler technology, it still delivers the goods from the standpoint of a fan. Yes, the songs are simple and light, but at the time they were also some of the most played on radio. This is a must own for any Beatles fan,
for it's a look at music history that will probably never be repeated again by anyone any time soon.

Movie Review: Deluxe DVD version of a classic motion picture...
Summary: 5 Stars

I agree with other reviewers that the DVD packaging leaves a bit to be desired (at least why not a more durable plastic slipcase?). Except for that minor gripe, this is a highly recommended ultimate version of a classic movie. Although of course there is a storyline, A HARD DAY'S NIGHT plays more like an irreverent, art-exaggerates-life documentary, balancing timeless music with fast-paced, witty off-stage interplay that hasn't grown stale with the passage of decades.

I noticed that the 5.1 mix is used only for the music; the dialogue portions are center-speaker only (the audio transitions are smooth, though). I suppose some will quibble that because of this you are no longer watching the original theatrical release, but it adds dramatic effect to go from mono to 5.1 for the music, so I'd consider it an improvement. There is an excellent documentary to fill out disc one; disc two is full of interviews--albeit not with any Beatles--that provide interesting anecdotes, but will probably not warrant many repeat viewings except by Beatle fans (but since you are getting two DVDs for the price of one, think of it as a free bonus disc).

Movie Review: A Hard Days Night
Summary: 5 Stars

I own this dvd and watched it a dozen times I like it. You never realize how funny they can be until you have seen them in a movie acting. It reminds me about funny flashbacks of hotdogs and yellow submarine and other strange hallucinations. If you look at some of the actors in the background you might think of other influences like FZ or Bo Diddly. I thought the bonus stuff was mostly lacking though in the movie there was a lot of live and concert footage anyways. It was very dreamlike to watch in a sense it was unreal probably because it's totally black & white. Very revealing if you ever find yourself emersed in BeatlemaniaYellow SubmarineThe Wizard of OzEnsemble Modern Plays Frank Zappa: Greggery Peccary & Other PersuasionsBob Dylan - Don't Look Back

Movie Review: What a clean old movie?
Summary: 5 Stars

When I was in high school my mom bought a record by this new group The Beatles. I wasn't impressed, give me my 409 and Shutdown. But when A Hard Days Night came out I saw it, not that many rock movies except Elvis back then. After 2 or so times through I left the theater, jwalked accross the street to the music store, bought the sheet music and retired to my guitar. I was hooked! Now ask me who's that little old man and I'll ask back What little old man. I think I have the whole thing memorized. I bought the videotape, my wife gave me the computer CD ( There are some interesting cut scenes), and later she bought me the DVD. I quess I didn't know all the script after all, The DVD version adds the clarity to really follow a great movie. The acting, these aren't actors, but you have to remind yourself of that. Compare it to say the Monkees, argh. The Writing/Directing, an English friend turned me on to the Goon Show and I thought of the movie, then discovered the Goon Show-Lester-Beatle connection and saw where the great scripting and scenes came from. A must see if you were there or want to know what it was like then.
