Movie Reviews of A Christmas Carol

Movie Review: By far the movie most compatable with the book!...
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie is great. It follows the book in almost every aspect. The casting is great and I especially enjoyed the terrific performance of Patrick Stewart. He did a great job and seemed to naturally fit the role of Scrooge. Some of the effects in the movie were rather poorly done for example the tornado that carries them to the lighthouse, but I honestly could care less because it is the only version of the movie that even has those scenes in it. This is by far the best version made! I highly recommend it.

Movie Review: Patrick Stewart makes a wonderful Scrooge
Summary: 5 Stars

Patrick Stewart gives a great performance as Scrooge. Stewart has the ability to pull off the mean looks and actions of Scrooge, and you can't help but dislike him early in the film. The flashbacks are well done, making you feel sorry for what happened to Scrooge as a child. When he finally comes around at the end, Stewart's humble portrayal of Scrooge with his family makes you feel that he really converted from bad to good. This is one of my favorite holiday films, and I'm thrilled to find it on DVD.

Movie Review: Christmas. It doesn't get much better than this!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you like Dickens "Christmas Carol" you will more than enjoy this rendition of a classic holiday story. Patrick Stewart (of Star Trek fame) does a remarkable job as the loathsome miser, Ebeneezer Scrooge. This particular presentation was origanally a made for TV production. However it loses nothing in the translation from the big screen to tv.

Trim the tree. Brew of some hot chocolate. Make some popcorn and sit back to be entertained by one of the best Christmas stories ever told.

Movie Review: The Best!
Summary: 5 Stars

Blah Blah Blah, Yadda Yadda Yadda! The George C. Scott Christmas Carol production was good but some of us like The Patrick Stewart version better so get over it! I actually used to like the Alistair Sim production as the best of them all but now my favorite is The Patrick Stewart film and it's now my all time fave with Alistair Sim following. The Patrick Stewart film is a lot closer to the Dickens novel than the haters will have you thinking and I think if you give it a chance you will like it!

Movie Review: Best version available
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been a fan of Dickens' beloved story all my life. I have watched numerous versions each year since I was a child. While I've always believed the Alister Sim version (1955) was the best of all time, I must now state that Patrick Stewart as Scrooge is simply incredible! Stewart truly brings Scrooge to life, and his ability to convey the profound transformation of the old miser is simply marvelous. Great supporting cast and costuming as well. I would highly recommend this production!
