Movie Reviews of A Christmas CarolMovie Review: Patrick Stewart Makes An Excellent Scrooge (Not Just Because I'm A Trek Fan) Summary: 5 Stars
'A Christmas Carol' comes to life once again and Mr. Patrick Stewart brings the timeless character Scrooge back to life. From the beauty scenery of 19th century England to the lively characters, the classic tale is once again brought to life as well.
Everyone in the film embraced their characters so much so that it seemed like this was actually based on a true story rather than a fictional story by Charles. Patrick fit the role of Scrooge perfectly and was not at one a bore to watch. The ghosts and spirits also were well done. It was simply amazing.
In the film you feel anger, sadness and finally heartwarming joy as you watch this film over and over again. That's whats so fantastic about this story. It speaks to everyone from every generation and it will always continue to do so. Not to mention it's just a good film that you will walk away feeling good from once it is finished.
Movie Review: The best casting of them all! Summary: 5 Stars
I cannot pick a favorite movie version of my all-time favorite story. I like almost all the people who have played Scrooge over the years, from Mr. Magoo to George C. Scott. However, this movie has, IMO, the best supporting cast. After seeing this version, it is more often than not, the actor from this movie that appears in my imagination as I read the book (a yearly tradition). Particularly, Richard E. Grant as Bob Cratchit and Dominic West as Fred, the two principles in Scrooge's present day life. Patrick Stewart does a well enough job, but the excellent cast buoy him up and make the production even better than it could have been. After just recently watching this one and then, shortly thereafter, reading the book, I must say that the dialogue stays extremely close to the text. This is very pleasing to me, considering I know most of the dialogue from the book by heart.
Movie Review: THE ABSOLUTE BEST!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I rented the '84 George C. Scott version yesterday and was soooo disappointed! Haltingly, I bought the Patrick Stewart version today (it was on a great sale at the video store) and watched it tonight. Oh my gosh, it is SO PHENOMENAL! I can't tell you how fabulous this one is! I just finished reading Dicken's unabridged book and this movie is almost word for word perfect in remaining true to the source material. If the scene where the Spirit of Christmas Present whisks Scrooge around the world to see people, in the direst of circumstances, celebrate Christmas (with "Silent Night" running through each scene), doesn't get you, then you need a ghostly visit yourself!
Patrick Stewart IS Ebenezer Scrooge, that's all I have to say about his acting.
BUY THIS!!! It is as close to perfect as you will ever see!
Movie Review: One of the best ever done on this story! The BEST modern day one! Summary: 5 Stars
Our government and all representitives per state, and all US presidents should veiw this movie and pay close attention! CLOSE ATTENTION! Charles Dickens's tale is well acted by these professional and delightful actors, everyone! I love it! It is a Christmas treasure, I intend to enjoy throughout the year and this life time! Its that great. Charles Dickens would be proud! And I am proud of these people for they have helped to creat and display for us very commitedly to the story's every detail, this good and priceless novel of a best loved writter of another time, but the values are still true. Don't miss out! Get yourself a copy of this excellent movie version! Thank you for reading! And as Tiny Tim obversed, "God bless us, everyone!" Those who see it, are blessed, indeed!
Movie Review: A Christmas Carol-Patrick Stewart Summary: 5 Stars
If you're interested, this is one of the better renditions of A Christmas Carol. Patrick Stewart, known for his shakespearian resonance embodies just the right overtones to play Ebenezer Scrooge and was perfectly cast. We may be used to seeing him in a different light, but he fills Scrooge's shoes and walks a mile! You will definately be surprised by a faux frightened Patrick -er- Scrooge when encountered by the ghosts, and even amused when he visits Christmas past and dances a little jig when he encounters his younger self. Definately worth viewing! You will be absolutely surprised and I think you will enjoy Patrick Stewart as Scrooge. Take a little trip back to the time of Tiny Tim and let Scrooge be your tour guide. He will make sure the ride is far from boring!
