Movie Reviews of A Chorus Line

Movie Review: Kiss Today Goodbye
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a 1985 release, and stars Michael Douglas as a Broadway director casting dancers for a large production. I enjoyed the movie, yet completely agree with others that the stage version is much better and makes more sense of the story line. Many people saw the stage version first. I do understand their frustration with the film; in particular, it skews the number "What I Did For Love" into emphasizing the love story between Cassie and Zach. What it's really about is the love and dedication dancers have for what they do, through all the blood, sweat and tears.

I went out of order and saw the movie first, and wound up thoroughly enjoying the stage version, a positive experience last rather than the generally negative reception from those who sequenced the other way. Best strategy is to enjoy each, the stage version and film version, for what they are - entertainment.

Movie Review: A gift that was treasured
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this a gift for a special friend as I know that she loves musicals and had this movie but only on video tape. When she first opened the gift she could nothing but squeal with delight and run around the office showing everyone with much excitment. She has watched the movie several times and invited other friends over to enjoy the experience. I myself have watched the movie and must say it is enjoyable but not the best movie of this genre. Would only recommend for people who like Broadway shows and musicals. I'm glad I got this movie as a gift for her as I will now be remembered for many years to come.

Movie Review: Good Musical with Great Dancing
Summary: 4 Stars

Let me start off by saying that I have never seen the stage show of "A Chorus Line" therefore, have nothing to compare it to. I really liked the movie version though. I'm a dancer myself (although not close to professional) and I can relate to the characters in the movie. To me, and many other dancers, it doesn't matter what part you get in a show, just as long as you can dance and perform for people! I thought the dancing was great, the songs were ok. It's not my favorite musical, but it's a show I like to watch from time to time.

Movie Review: questionable casting, but enjoyable
Summary: 4 Stars

having seen both the original Chorus Line on broadway, and this movie version....I can only say what some of the original cast members said about this production. It was done very well. Music is spectacular, but some of the leads are a joke. Tits and Ass production number is great, but using that sad actress "Landers" was a mistake. Good flick for a sat night. Sit back and enjoy.

Movie Review: We didn`t get many musicals in the 80s...
Summary: 4 Stars

but fortunately Richard Attenborough gave us this(a long way from Gandhi indeed)... It is a 80s treatment of the show, but the talent is a treasure to behold. The cast-director of CHICAGO should have seen this and put real musical-talent in the leads...

The finale, One, brings tears to the eyes... IT`S A SHOWSTOPPER
