Movie Reviews of A Bridge Too Far [Blu-ray]Movie Review: Operation Market Garden in WW II Summary: 5 Stars
A terrific film version of Ryan's book, a "Bridge too Far." The film is very well done, and is an excellent dramatization
of a serious military disappointment by the British. Acting by an all star cast of English, German and American actors,
with one or two minor exceptions, is first-rate. James Caan, Dick Bogard, Sean Connery, Anthony Hopkins, and Maximillian
Schell are outstanding in this gritty and demanding story of events gone awry for the Allies in WWII. Photography, colors,
and costumes are technically and visually as precise as possible. A must see film for anyone interested in this tragic
set-back for the British during WWII.
Movie Review: blu ray Summary: 5 Stars
The acting and photography was great. The blu-ray version at $10.99 is much better than the the dvds - there are no artifacts and video is sharp. The dvds are grainy. Of course the opening scenes cut from old sources are grainy, etc. But once you get to the movie itself the sound and picture are great. The story is excellent as others have said. I wish other blu-ray versions were just as good. For example, French Connection II blu-ray was a bit disappointing because the video was grainy.
Movie Review: The best World War II movie Summary: 5 Stars
The film tells the story of Operation Market-Garden, and its ultimate failure, the Allied attempt to break through German lines and seize several bridges, with the main objective the bridge over the Lower Rhine (Neder Rijn) River, in the occupied Netherlands during World War II.
Very good audio and video quality, great actors and war scenes.
Movie Review: A Bridge to Far Summary: 5 Stars
I just returned from Nijmegen Netherlands; we attended several memorial celebrations all over the area in honor of 65 years of freedom from the Nazi invasion. I decided to watch this movie, it was excellent. God bless America and thank you GI's!
Movie Review: great buy Summary: 5 Stars
Overall a great price for a blu-ray and a classic movie. The fact that the editing of the film differs from others had little impact on the purchase. Would be happy to purchase again.
