Movie Reviews of 88 Minutes

Movie Review: Review of Used DVD
Summary: 5 Stars

I received this DVD in excellent condition. It was like brand new. I also enjoyed the movie very much.

Movie Review: Far Better Than Righteous Kill!
Summary: 4 Stars

I saw RIGHTEOUS KILL and 88 MINUTES in the same week and Al Pacino has the same hair, beard and clothes in both. Did he run from one set to the other doing these films? Strange. I liked 88 MINUTES because it was filmed in Seattle. Every outdoor frame is covered in rain. There are no Sun shots in the entire film. It is always raining. And that is what Seattle is like at certain times of the year. It was realistic and honest and I appreciated that. It wasn't a postcard endorsed by the Chamber of Commerce. Pacino is totally believable in his role. The film is very interesting with twists and turns and then more turns. You never really know who is the anonymous caller and killer. Funny thing--I picked the real killer out in the trailers months ago! I don't know how I did it. I just mentally narrowed it down and chose the right one. But I had to watch the movie to see if I was right. And I was. For people like me who like a fast-moving, interesting film, 88 MINUTES fits the bill. There are a lot of familiar faces in the movie, but Al Pacino, as always, carries the entire film on his back. He's in almost every frame. When he is running across the campus, it is difficult to believe he is close to 70! Where did our youth go, Al?

Movie Review: Laid Back Ride
Summary: 4 Stars

This isn't an action packed thrill ride. It's honestly very laid back and you just have to wait for the end to come. The whole way through you're given some clues, but not nearly enough to figure out the whodunnit until the very end, and the ending is a surprise that I wasn't ready for.

It's about Jack Gramm, a forensic psychiatrist, who also works with the FBI on high profile cases. In addition to that he also teaches at the local university.

But he's on someone's hit list and he has to figure it out or he'll die in 88 minutes. He goes from place to place, person to person, trying to figure out who it is, why, anything to keep from dying in the alloted time. He can trust no one, everyone is a suspect. Along the way you figure out the meaning of the 88 minutes.

It's interesting, but I don't think I could watch this over and over. Maybe in a few years or so.

Movie Review: 88 Minutes
Summary: 4 Stars

Oh sure Al uses hair color, but so do a lot of men. Afterall he is sixty-eight, even if he doesn't look it, but a tad old to be pretending some young college student has a crush on him since he is old enough to be her grandfather. Once past that he delivers a good performance in this thriller. A man he put away because of his psychiatric evaluation is facing the death penalty. Oddly enough nine years goes by before he decides on some payback. Al gets a message that he has 88 minutes to live and count down messages after. We are along for a ride with twists and turns as we try to figure out who will die next and who is part of the master plan to kill him. There are enough Red Herrings to fill a can of them. I still found it entertaining and worth the watch. Good quality DVD with good replayability. If you enjoyed this catch "Insomnia" and "Blood Work".

Movie Review: Enjoyable thriller
Summary: 4 Stars

In this movie, Al Pacino is a forensic psychologist who has a way with women. He served as an expert witness on a murder case and he was largely responsible for putting the accused man into prison. On the day that the man is due to be executed, a copycat murder takes place which suggests that the man has been falsely imprisoned. At the same time, Pacino receives a phone call telling him that he has only 88 minutes to live. For the rest of the movie, Pacino races against time as numerous red herrings are thrown at the audience.

After glancing at some of the other reviews, it is evident that many people disagree with me that this is an entertaining thriller. My husband and I enjoyed it and felt that we were definitely entertained for 88 minutes.
