Movie Reviews of 30 Rock: Season One

Movie Review: Terrific!
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't understand why so many reviewers are reviewing the show itself here. Does anyone buy a DVD of a show they've never seen or don't already like? These reviews are supposed to be for the DVD itself - ie. packaging, disc/picture quality, menu set-up, etc. That said...this 3 disc set is packaged very simply and that's all you need. On the inside cover there is a sentence or two summarizing each episode so you don't have to screen each disc to find a favorite episode. Seems like a no-brainer but a lot of box-sets don't do that. The picture and sound are clear and the menus/episode indexes are easy to use.

Movie Review: A Underrated Little Gem of a Show!
Summary: 5 Stars

As a rule I never watch sitcoms because I usually find them to be insipid and seldom find them funny. But this show is really just, simply put, smart and funny. I was pleasantly surprised! Tina Fey is just great...a comedic genius. Heck, even Alec Baldwin, who I normally can't stand, is fantastic and definitely a scene stealer.

The parallels that the Amazon reviewer made to Arrested Development (another smart and funny show) are spot-on, though, I think. Why shows like this seldom hang around for a long time while we can get stuck with 10 years of "Friends" is beyond me.

Movie Review: give me more! great show!
Summary: 5 Stars

30 Rock has not been shown on Australian TV and having heard so much about it, I had to purchase the DVD of the first season. I could not stop watching until it came to an end. The show is not as hilarious as it is made out to be, but the subtle humour and send up of the GE/NBC relationship is classic and a must for media observers and comedy lovers. Tina Fey is brilliant, but I would expect her writing in the 2nd season to beef up a bit, Alec Baldwin - fabulous. I loved this DVD and for non-US citizens, if it is not shown in your country, buy the DVD. I loved it.

Movie Review: Superb casting, writing, entertainment!
Summary: 5 Stars

This show (all seasons) refreshingly fills a void for the comedy,
upliftment, entertainment and just plain fun to intelligent, thinking
audiences - a welcome alternative to dummed-down sitcoms and "intense, ironic"
so-called comedies.

The shows are full of clever layers, lovable characters, super celebrity
and musical appearances, and a continuity of plot lines to keep you
attached. De-stress and lighten up by kicking back and watching a
few episodes - great fun and so well done! I so look forward to more....

Movie Review: Wow, this show is absolutely hilarious.
Summary: 5 Stars

So I basically never watch tv except for sports, and usually hate the so called "comedy shows", but this is just freaking funny. Like some others I hadn't really paid any attention until the hype with Fey's Palin skit hit the media, but I'm glad it did because I decided to check out a show last Thursday, and that was enough to buy this set. Already have watched a bunch of shows from this 1st season and I'm definitely glad I bought it. Plus there is the added bonus of getting to see a ton of Tina Fey, who definitely isn't hard on the eyes either. Win win.
