Movie Reviews of 24: Season SixMovie Review: My favorite season Summary: 5 Stars
This season begins with Jack being released from a Chinese prison just to be traded to terrorists for information on the man responsible for multiple attacks in the U.S. Jack willing goes along with this until he learns that the information is incorrect and he has actually been turned over to the real terrorist. It turns out that the real terrorists were turning in a man who was denouncing terrorism and trying to facilitate peace. Of course Jack can't sit and die when he knows the truth. So this begins an action packed season as Jack teams up with the former terrorist to hunt for the latest threat.
I have read several reviews that comment on this season being more of the same. Although I somewhat agree, I really like the action and suspense that this series throws into each and every episode. I'm not sure how different they can make it given that the premise is 24 hours in the life of a CTU agent. I thought the action was at an all time high this season and that Sutherland's performance was spectacular. I also like the new characters introduced into CTU this season and I like the new president. Wayne Palmer is much more likable and believable than the season 5 president, and also makes better decisions.
Overall, this is my favorite season yet. But I haven't seen season 7 yet...
Movie Review: suspenseful escapism Summary: 5 Stars
Based on many of the reviews and a gradual disaffection for the previous 3 seasons (particularly 5), I waited a long time before finally giving in to curiosity and buying this season. Imagine my surprise then when I found season 6 to be as entertaining, gripping and nearly as emotional as the first two seasons. But even more than that I was delighted to find Season 6 so very fortunately free of bad acting and kitchen sink drama that has so plagued the last three seasons.
This is mindless, but suspenseful escapism, and, given that the threat mechanism of the plot is exactly the same as every other season, I have to say that the writers are to be lauded for their inventiveness on taking Jack Bauer on another journey as entertaining as this. There are genuine surprises in this season - plot twists that keep you guessing, even when admittedly, there is no longer any sense of whether Jack will make it through or not.
For the customers who are trying to make up their minds, imagine that you've never seen 24 before - imagine you have no investment in previous characters. Put aside judgment and enjoy this excellently made TV Series.
Movie Review: Your cursed Jack! Summary: 5 Stars
Season 6 has varied reviews and a number of unhappy people, who claim that 24 is falling apart. I feel killing almost everyone in season 5 resulted in much of the dissatisfaction with season 6. The new people have no history and no claim to our affection. If we are not watching someone we like and care about, we night think to much. This is something the writers need to consider, the people are what makes the show and they need to be preserved.
The story line is standard and not deep. This is not a "who done it" or a deep thought provoking drama. Plots and sub plots have been taken from past seasons and put together for a new story line. During any hour, something occurs designed to make us want to watch the next hour. As the clock ticks down 59:57, 59:58 something is happening that requires us to watch the next hour. This is a cliffhanger and a darn good one!
Jack, I agree with Secretary Heller. You are cursed to provide us with high-energy entertainment that is great fun as long as we don't think to much. The series is much better on DVD, without commercials and waiting for next week.
Movie Review: 24 & KEIFER SUTHERLAND ROCK Summary: 5 Stars
I WATCHED THE FIRST SEASON OF 24 ON TV. IT MADE ME CRAZY GOING FROM ONE WEEK TO THE NEXT FOR ANOTHER HOUR OF THE SAME DAY. SO THE LAST 5 SEASONS I HAVE RECORDED ALL THE EPISODES FOR THE SEASON AND THEN WATCHED THEM ALL IN A WEEK OR TWO. THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST WAY TO WATCH 24, IN MY OPINION.
I REALLY LIKED THIS SEASON, JUST A LITTLE MORE CONTENT AND A LITTLE LESS SHOOT EM UP. I LIKE THE CONSTANT ACTION...BUT ALL ACTION IS NOT SHOOTING. THERE WERE ENOUGH TWISTS AND TURNS TO KEEP ME WATCHING. A COUPLE OF EPISODES KIND OF DRAGGED, BUT OVERALL THE STORY WAS PRETTY DOGGONE TRUE TO 24.
JACK WAS IN KIND OF A STUPOR AFTER 2 YEARS IN A CHINESE PRISON...HE WASN'T SUPPOSED TO BE HIS SPARKLING SELF...THEN HIS BROTHER AND HIS DAD...AND THEN WHEN HE FINDS OUT HE'S LOST ANOTHER LOVE...WHAT? PEOPLE EXPECTED HIM TO BE TOTALLY FOCUSED AND EAGER TO DO CTU'S BIDDING? I THINK THE WRITERS KEPT HIM RIGHT IN CHARACTER FOR HOW SOMEONE LIKE JACK BAUER WOULD BE IN THE 24 HOURS AFTER THAT! NICE SIDE STORY WITH CLOE & MORRIS, TOO.
GOOO STUFF, THIS SHOW.
Movie Review: I'm Hooked!!! Summary: 5 Stars
Let me start by saying that I am not one for regular TV. 99% of it is pure drivel. In our household, it's either Discover Channel, Food Network, History Channel or Sci-fi channel. Series wise, we Tivo a total of 4 programs any given week and prior to my accidental viewing late one Friday night of a marathon of 24 - none of the Tivo'd shows were regular TV. The last time I was this hooked on a show was during the reign of Babylon 5 where story arc and character development were foremost in the creators mind. I made the mistake of attempting to jump into Season 2 or 3 and TRY to pull all of the plot threads together - an obvious disaster. As a Network Designer and Security Geek, the technology (Cisco - what a shameless plug...) is amazing. Just when you think the plot can't twist any further, it does and does so wickedly. I look forward to watching Season 6 sans commercials and hopefully they (FOX) can keep the show fresh and make Season 7 as they have this time - a nail biting, yelling at the TV and well written roller-coaster ride. Come on Jack!
