Movie Review: Very good!
Summary: 4 Stars
I must say I was really impressed with the DVD. How ever I must point out to the PBS house series audience that this one takes place during the 2nd World War. It has at times very glumy atmosfere, that is inapropriate for the very young (1 to 10 years), or the very old who remember.
I must admit that my husband (whose brother is missing in action) broke down about midway and couldn't watch it. He eventually coninued, but we skipped about 40 minutes of the part covering the price of war.
This DVD would be good teaching tool as it accounts acurretly but without the bloody seens from other war movies, the life during WW2 in UK.
Summary of 1940s House
One modern family takes on the challenge of domestic life on Britain's home front in this recreation of a World War II household. This time-travel experiment covers the period from the outbreak of the war in 1939 to Victory Day in 1945, compressing the events of six wartime years into nine weeks.
