Movie Reviews of 13 TzametiMovie Review: Underrated Gem Summary: 4 StarsI didn't know anything about this movie other than what was written on the DVD case (and I wasn't sure about calling it an "existential thriller"), but was pleasantly surprised. It was filmed in black and white and is subtitled, if that matters to you (it didn't to me).
The trailers give you an idea of what the movie is about, but I think it's better if you watch the movie unfold without knowing anything about it.
The first half hour did drag a bit, but after that, it was great. After watching it, I can now see why it was called an existential thriller. Very well done for the director's first film and worthy of the many awards it received.
Movie Review: A bit of a shaggy dog story Summary: 3 Stars13/Tzameti is bit of a shaggy dog story but, once it gets past the awkward first half hour, one that plays out surprisingly well considering its focussing on one character saps it of any real suspense because we know if anything happens to him, the movie is over. A poor ?migr?'s relation to Intacto that focuses on a different kind of betting on other people's luck and is mainly variations on a theme, it doesn't outstay its welcome even if it doesn't make quite as much of its central conceit as it might.
Movie Review: Movie-viewing akin to driving by a massive wreck on the highway Summary: 4 StarsThe '13 Tzameti' viewing experience is akin to driving by a massive wreck on the highway. You shouldn't look. You do anyway.
When Georgian immigrant S?bastien (George Babluani) takes a mysterious ticket and hotel reservation intended for someone else (to say who is to probably give away too much), he takes viewers headlong into an enterprise that - when finally and acutely revealed - brings a mouthful of revulsion. It's shocking stuff.
Be forewarned: '13 Tzameti' is - to put it lightly - not going to go down well with everyone. It's been 24 hours since I've seen it, and I'm still unsettled by it. Despite that, this is undeniably gripping movie-making by writer/director G?la Babluani.
Movie Review: Stunning Summary: 5 StarsAs 13 tzameti unfolds, the viewer is pulled further and further into this incredibly dark world where your life is in the hands of the person next to you. Incredibly well done and definitely worth watching
Movie Review: Watch the Light Summary: 4 Stars13 Tzameti, to be very plainly summed up is a large game of russian roulette with a twist. As simple as the plot sounds, this was still a very interesting movie.
