Movie Review: Lots of laughs, lots of truth

As a male, I must admit that it's hard to ignore all of the eye candy. This movie features many very attractive ladies. However, the movie capitalizes on the beauty of its cast by showing how beauty, or the idea of what is beautiful, has an unexpected impact on the different sexes.

Beyond that, I laughed throughout the movie. Matt's growth while searching for his lover presented many opportunities to engage in humorous antics with the ladies of the "Virgin Vault." My two favorite scenes are the foosball games with Katherine Heigl's character Arlene and the pillow fight with Larissa Oleynik's Wendy, namely when her mom walks in.

As a hopeless romantic, I of course loved the idea of searching for lost true love and the movie didn't disappoint. I certainly did not expect the elevator girl to turn out to be... I've seen my fair share of romantic comedies and this was a definite surprise.

Lastly, I must applaud the writing. In particular, I think I'm going to steal Matt's "Promise Speech." Funny, touching, and sensitive, it just seems like something a hopeless romantic ought to spew to his love.

All in all, this is a great movie that I highly recommend. However, it only works as a great film if you understand what to take seriously and what to laugh at.
